Sign UpThepla is a soft, thin, savoury flatbread, and methi thepla is the popular version made with fenugreek leaves (methi) and gentle spices kneaded into a wholewheat dough. It's soft, flavourful and famously easy to carry, which is why it's a favourite for travel and lunchboxes.
Warm them on a tawa or in a pan, then serve with curd (yoghurt) and pickle for a classic breakfast, roll them around veg or paneer as a quick wrap, or pair them with raita, chutney or labneh — and, of course, a cup of chai.
Theplas stay soft and taste great even at room temperature, and they pack flat without crumbling, which makes them ideal for journeys, picnics, flights and lunchboxes. They keep well for a couple of days and freeze nicely too.
